Anorthosis Famagusta FC is one of the oldest and most successful multi-sport clubs in Cyprus, founded in Famagusta in 1911. Following the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the club was forced to relocate and operates as a refugee club based in Larnaka, playing its home games at the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium. Known affectionately as The Great Lady (Megali Kyria), Anorthosis has won 13 Cypriot First Division titles, 11 Cypriot Cups, and 7 Super Cups. The club holds a historic place in Cypriot football as the first team from the island to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage, achieving the feat during the 2008–2009 season.
