I can only trace the current logo back to 2008 and this redrawing by a Wikipedia user after some sort of submission from VFLnet, a website that's defunct now:

no, the old logo needs to stay -- it reflects the former structure. regionalliga level has been reformed at least a dozen times, changing regional groups and group names. this was during a time when there were no separate logos for the groups, only for the tier itself.

the 2025 dfb logo has no connection to that era and would be incorrect.

Yeah, that's definitely clear from the organisational history, but as far as the database is structured 146957 is the active parent competition for all the current and only the current and extant real-life sub-competitions (91107111, 91107110, 35010927, 27, 26). As a consequence, if the current logo remains it'll continue to appear in game like this:

That's a consequence of any sub-competitions not appearing in the game's league list, only the parent competitions.

edit: Also to clarify, 146957 being a parent competition means it has no history in the database, no winners, no records. It seems to be entirely to connect the sub-competitions at the same competition level.

like many others, they messed this one up.
the regionalliga groups are run independently from each other by the regional associations as the name implies, there is no overarching unit that groups them together -- this is effectively another inventend comp that poorly reflects real comps in-game.

the background is actually supposed to be transparent -- the checkered background is a simulation of a transparent background.
