  1. Only if it's the home of Yorkshire Tea... Harrogate Town
  2. Full name Charlton Athletic Football Club Nickname(s) The Addicks, The Valiants, Red Robins Founded 9 June 1905; 119 years ago Ground The Valley Capacity 27,111 Owner Gordon Scott Chairman Gordon Scott Manager Jamie Hallam League EFL League One 2024-35 EFL League One, 13th of 24 Website Club website Current season Charlton Athletic Football Club is an English professional football club based in Charlton, south-east London, which compete in EFL League One. Their home ground is The Valley, where the club have played since 1919. They have also played at The Mount in Catford during the 1923–24 season, and spent seven years at Selhurst Park and the Boleyn Ground between 1985 and 1992, due to financial issues, and then safety concerns raised by the local council. The club's traditional kit consists of red shirts, white shorts and red socks, and their most commonly used nickname is The Addicks. Charlton share local rivalries with fellow South London clubs Crystal Palace and Millwall. The club was founded on 9 June 1905 and turned professional in 1920. They spent one season in the Kent League and one season in the Southern League, before being invited to join the newly-formed Football League Third Division South in 1921. They won the division in the 1928–29 season, and again in 1934–35 following relegation in 1933. Charlton were promoted out of the Second Division in 1935–36, and finished second in the First Division the next season. Having been beaten finalists in 1946, they lifted the FA Cup the following year with a 1–0 victory over Burnley. The departure of Jimmy Seed in 1956, manager for 23 years, saw the club relegated out of the top-flight the following year. Relegated again in 1972, Charlton were promoted from the Third Division in 1974–75, and again in 1980–81 following relegation the previous season. Charlton recovered from administration to secure promotion back to the First Division in 1985–86, and went on to lose in the 1987 final of the Full Members' Cup, though they won the 1987 play-off final to retain their top-flight status. Having been relegated in 1990, Charlton won the 1998 play-off final to make their debut in the Premier League. Though they were relegated the next year, manager Alan Curbishley took them back up as champions in 1999–2000. Charlton spent seven successive years in the Premier League, before suffering two relegations in three years. They won League One with 101 points in 2011–12, though were relegated from the Championship in 2016, and again in 2020 after they won the 2019 League One play-off final.
  3. End of the Road 4th November 2024 Personal Statement - Today is an emotional day for me, as I grew fond of my time in Bodens, hopefully I've brought you the love of Yorkshire like you've given me the love of Sweden. Today I say goodbye and take the next step in my journey while I close the first chapter of my career and leave behind me memories that will last forever. I will always keep one eye on the progress being made here. Today I embark on the next chapter in my career with a fallen giant, I bring with me the passion of Yorkshire and the determination of Sweden. Today I am Charlton AFC.

  5. End of Season Review 20 Oct 2024. Squeaky bum time doesn't quite cut it this year. Finishing Just above the relegation play offs after an abysmal run. 9 points clear but that could have been so different any other time. No celebrations with the boys this year just an early holiday to spend with families wind down and a pat on the back for the fight they put up. Once again due to financial restraints (I really need to get in touch with the Yorkshire Tea HR about sponsorship) we weren't able to bring in any players and the same will likely be next season too. The coming season will see youngsters being used more and possibly a change from a flat back 4 to 3 at the back if we can pull it off. Overload the back line and have 3 strikers to play out too. I need to reach down to my inner Yorkshire Bastard and create something special next season.
  6. Mid Season Update 24th August 2024 Here we are again Summer time of 2024, Brian Adams - Summer of '69 playing in the background. The waves hitting the shore albeit cold air going across my bald head. 23 games into the season and we sit comfortable in mid table. 7 games to go in the season and after a start of the season arguing with Nordell about wages he finally extended his contract. Faustini is once again popping the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis, but noone expected anything less from the wing wizard. Game of the season so far was the 8-0 drubbing over Sylvia. The Yorkshire tea worked it's magic this weekend. The team is topping the charts for goals scored but we are conceding far too much and being for too inconsistent. Gateshead was the main club of note that approached me this season. As much as I'd love to take on that project they preferred Hayden Mullins.
  7. Only one man can bring out the Inner Yorkshire Bastard and the the job done.
  8. As much as I want France to win the WC just for Mbappe to walk into the PSG dressing room with another world cup winners medal and stand over Neymar and Messi like "who's the GOAT, WHO IS THE REAL GOAT" we all know the corrupt officials and organisation want to send Messi home as a world champion and want to do what they can to make this happen.
  9. Easier said than done I'm afraid, none of the players are of any value as are mainly on non-contracts one of the many disadvantages of being a semi pro club. All I can hope is I fall on some gems that can push me up the league table and pray we become a professional club and tying players to contracts. Few Job interviews during the first half of this campaign so we will see when it's update time what is happening
  10. Imagine the scenes at Anfield... "Liverpool unviel Bellingham" out steps Jobe..... Awkward Joao Felix's agent is apparently wanting to hold talks with Aston Villa and Newcastle. Newcastle I can understand.... but Villa?
  11. HAHA! Mate I bloody love it! instant desktop background
  12. Be a monster if I was from yorkshire and didn't like the Yorkshire tea! Orange and white please pal
  13. Yorkshire Tea FC wallpaper?
  14. 2023 part 2 16th March 2024 Another year another supply of Yorkshire Tea. An 8th place finish in the first season with some cracking results. Sharpe would be proud of the spirit and fight. The finances are taking a hit which may just cripple the club with players on non-contracts meaning no value going forward but we'll fight on. We need to push for a higher division as I've already had an argument with Nordell about his wage, he wants £50 a week I can only afford £5 and a weeks supply of Yorkshire Tea, obviously this isn't enough for Nordie so he's looking at other clubs. I need to power my inner Bean and get this team pushing above and beyond, some youngsters may be trained in the making of this blog.
  15. Welcome aboard guys! Plenty of Yorkshire tea to go around
  16. The mid year review Brought to you by our partner Yorkshire Tea 14th July 2023 Firstly, a thank you to Yorkshire Tea for providing me with a satisfying cuppa each morning in Sweden. Luvleh. Lets get down too it, Yes I did accept the job interview with De Graafschap, did I get it? No!. Reason being? Well they obviously don't like the idea of Yorkshire Tea being branded around the stadium. Their loss. We've had a pretty strong first half of the year, sitting nicely in mid table. Far enough away from a relegation scrap and not too far off the pace of the top 2 for a first season. Star players this year are the same two from last year who seem to have stepped up another gear. Nordell Faustini 2 more interviews attended during the first half of the season VVV-Venlo, again not their cup of tea. And Danish 3F Superliga team Aalborg. Who despite once again headhunting me didn't actually fancy taking that chance. The aim for the second half of the season is consolidate the league position and push on. The futures Bright the future at the minute is Bodens.
  17. Hi guys, thank you @Derekfor bringing me on board, looking forward to working with you all.
  18. I'm still awaiting Yorkshire Tea endorsment, feel free to push them for me hahaha
  19. Pre-Season 4th April 2023 Pre season started what feels like a life time ago. But I guess 6 months is a long time for anyone to go through pre-season. We said good bye to dead wood while keeping the core and bringing in some youth in to freshen up the squad for our first go in the new league. The innies The outties During Pre-Season we have 16 friendlies...... 16 just to keep fitness levels.... That's half a seasons worth of friendlies in a pre season.... I have also pssed up the opportunity of a move back to England to manage Wealdstone, who offered me an interview but I didn't fancy it. And we come to today. With one friendly before the league starts, and an opportunity to manage in the Dutch Kueken Kampioen Divisie, with De Graafschap. The interview has been offered and I sit here Yorkshire tea in one hand, beard in the other. It's a tempting very tempting proposition. To be continued.......
  20. It doesn't help the squad with so much in fighting going on. KDB doesn't like Courtois for obvious reasons. Martinez was leaving anyway, Eden is aging and isn't the same player he was in his prime Chelsea days. The youngsters should be starting more. How Batshuayi keeps getting called up is beyond me. Japan though..... Don't take your eyes of this team for a second
  21. I love these kinds of threads. People showing hidden gems that may not have been found in their games. I'm not sure theres any in the lower reaches of the Swedish leagues but I'll keep my eyes out
  22. You're work on this is astounding dude. You always produce top quality stuff. There's always been little rumours on the forums that Red Bull keep looking at Sheffield Wednesday (not sure why we attract them). Would love to see how you'd incorporate the Owls into the Red Bull brand
  23. And then they'll act surprised when nations pull away from FIFA, Denmark has already started the process.
  24. Allez Allez Allez 8th October 2022 Post Season reflection - I'm going to just come out and say it, if Sean Bean was from Bodens he'd have told the boys "Do it fer Bodens" and they did just that. We had a little blip towards the end which saw us 4 points behind our closest rivals, IFK Lulea, who were in all sense of the words, worthy opponents. Thank fully we topped the league 4 points clear. We managed to tie down a couple of players that were influential this season starting with the league top scorer Renan Faustini. Our number 9, William Nordell. And youngster Talibeh Jallow all staying for another season. It's also a sad day that we have to say good by to a great leader and a great friend who, I did buy a pack of Yorkshire tea just for him as he announces his retirement. Looking back, it was a great season only 3 losses and a GD of +55 to take the league. I couldn't be prouder of this group and the togetherness to see it through.
  25. As predicted for England, Southgate ball. Very boring defensive football with no emphasis on the final third as soon as we come up against a team that are capable of playing football. Thankfully with Iran beating Wales anything other than a 4-0 loss to Wales see's us through. Qatar going out is no surprise after watching that first game, Japan beating Germany was a cracking game. Can't say I've seen any other enjoyable games other than that so far.
